Decorative Round Pillow

You will need:
- set from dresówka.pl
- multi-purpose sewing machine
- zipper foot
- sewing accessories (scissors, pins, fabric marker)

We start by cutting out all the pillow pieces:

The bottom part of the pillow consists of two parts connected with a zipper tape. Sew these two small rectangles together along their shorter sides, wrong side out. This strip will protect the zipper from getting caught in the pillow stuffing.

Make a fold to attach the zipper.

After sewing in the zipper, place the bottom part of the pillow wrong side up and pin the protective strip covering the zipper. Then sew it along one side of the zipper.

Sew the two parts of the decorative strip together along their shorter sides, wrong sides together.

Join the two strips together – the decorative (wider) strip and the encircling (narrower) strip, right side to right side. Place both strips with the wrong side of the wider strip facing the right side of the top part of the pillow. Pin or baste them. Start sewing 3 cm from the beginning of the joined strips and finish 5 cm before the starting point. This unsewn gap will make it easier to sew the shorter ends of both strips separately later (right side to right side). Adjust the length of both parts before sewing them together. Once the strips are joined, complete sewing them around the top part of the pillow. Alternatively, if that feels too complicated, you can sew the wider strip first (wrong side to the right side of the pillow) and then the narrower one (right side to the right side of the wider strip).

Fold the decorative strip over the top part of the pillow and fold the encircling strip underneath. Baste to make sure it's even, and ...

... topstitch all the way around.

Make a fold about 2 cm wide around the decorative strip and stitch it. This will create a casing to thread the elastic band through.

Now, let's start joining both parts of the pillow. Lay the top part of the pillow right side up, and turn the encircling strip upwards with the wrong side facing out.

Place the bottom part of the pillow right side facing inward, pin or baste, and sew together. Remember to unzip the zipper slightly before sewing so turning it right side out won't be an issue later.

Turn the pillow right side out. Pin, baste, and stitch around the bottom perimeter of the pillow.

Fill the pillow with stuffing.

Thread the elastic through, and your pillow is ready. Tie the excess elastic and trim it off. Hide the knot inside the casing for a neat finish. The size of the center opening depends on how wide you make the casing fold for the elastic.
