Sheep and lambs from a DIY kit – tutorial

To sew the lamb, you will need:
- ready-made DIY kit available at Dresówka.pl
- sewing clips or pins
- scissors, pencil
- fabric glue
Our ram was sewn using:
- JANOME multi-functional sewing machine

Trace the pattern onto the respective fabrics. Cut out carefully.

Start making the ram by sewing the individual parts:
- LEGS AND ARMS, these are the first elements. Sew the hooves onto the cut-out rectangles. Fold the sewn parts in half lengthwise and stitch together along the edge.

- HOOVES, attach the hoof base to the sewn pieces by stitching all around (for convenience, this can be done by hand). Turn the finished legs and arms right side out and fill them with polyester fiberfill stuffing (arms and legs sit much nicer when not stuffed too firmly).

- ATTACHING THE ARMS, start by positioning the finished arms in place on the cut-out faux fur. Fold the fur pieces with right sides facing inward, pin everything together, and stitch along the seams.

When sewing faux fur, it is important to tuck the pile inside so the seams stay hidden and the sides remain fluffy. Below are examples of poorly and properly sewn fur.

- ATTACHING THE LEGS, determine the placement for the lamb's legs (make sure the seams on the arms and legs face the same direction). Once positioned, pin the bottom panel, sew all around, and turn right side out.

- FILL WITH STUFFING, stuff the lamb's torso until the belly is round and plump ;)

- HEAD, now it is time to work on the head. Fold the cut-out ears right sides together, stitch around, and turn right side out. Place the ears in the correct spots on the head—about 2–3 cm from the top—pin the pieces together, and sew.

- TURN THE LAMB RIGHT SIDE OUT.
- ATTACHING SAFETY EYES, insert the safety eyes in the marked spots on the head.

- FORELOCK / HAIR TUFT, made from the cut piece of fur—fold it in half and stitch together.

- FORELOCK, it forms a small hood shape, making it easy to slip over the crown of the head. Close the opening on the head, slip the hood on, and hand-stitch it securely in place.

Stitch the cap along the sides of the head as well. This creates a pocket—stuff it with polyester fiberfill.

Now you can join the head and body. Position the head on the torso and hand-sew the fur parts together all around until securely anchored.

Embroider a Y-shaped nose using embroidery floss or thick yarn.

The lamb is ready :)
