It is a bad omen when settlements, villages and cities are engulfed in fog. You can then expect the arrival of ghostly Beasts such as Szmara. It is a gloomy entity that drags its body, brushing against buildings. Tentacles look for open windows and sleeping people. With menacing eyes, it peeks through the windows, looking for victims. When it finds a hole through which it can insert a tentacle, placing it on the head of the unfortunate, it forces the most vile thoughts, the cruelest feelings, the most hideous visions into his dreams, so that they can turn into nightmares that cause real fear, helplessness and desperation. Accumulated bad emotions are the Beast's tastiest food, it sucks them from a few minutes to several hours, until a man wakes up screaming. Then the creature retreats almost silently, remaining unnoticed.
Szmara comes from the "Jelenia Góra Bestiary", which was created out of a passion for photography, drawing and writing. Tomasz Szyrwiel supplemented his photographs with creatures hidden under the fog, and spices them up with stories that arise in the mind during photographic journeys, explaining their origin and influence on the Jelenia Góra Valley.
